O Canadian!

O Canadian!

As I mentioned on my About Me page, I began seriously thinking about venturing further into the study of whiskey after a friend introduced me to a lovely Canadian whisky.  Forty Creek Confederation Oak Reserve to be exact.  Well rounded from nose to finish. Ever had a Werther’s caramel?  I love those candies and that’s what I thought of with my first sip. It’s dangerously smooth and silky with a long and lingering finish.  I couldn’t get enough of this stuff and couldn’t wait to get my hands on my own bottle. I searched but was unable to find it anywhere in the Austin area. Leave it to one of my friends to find it for me in a remote warehouse in Minneapolis! I still owe him a 12 pack of Austin Beerworks Black IPA for his find and trouble.  Finding both of these have been no easy task for either of us.  I still haven’t found AB’s Black IPA but later I stumbled upon the Forty Creek COR in a small town liquor store on the east Texas Louisiana border.  Although a fun adventure, it’s quite a drive so next time I think I’ll just ask my local liquor store to get it for me!

On the rocks or neat, this is dessert in a glass.  If you’re looking for a warm-fuzzy whisky, this is it. As a sipping whisky or as an after dinner drink or a night-cap, it’s one to be enjoyed anytime.
