Bourbon Heritage Month

Bourbon Heritage Month

Happy Bourbon Heritage Month! I got an early start and spent last week celebrating in Kentucky on the Bourbon Trail. It was my first time visiting Kentucky and I absolutely fell in love with it. The first stop I made was at The Silver Dollar in Louisville. They have quite a whiskey selection and the food is big and oh so good. One of the cool things about that stop though was the insert I found in the menu. It was an invite to a whiskey tasting hosted by author and bourbon historian Michael Veach which happened to be the week I was there. Well sign me up! I was reading Kentucky Bourbon Whiskey An American Heritage by Michael Veach at the time and was very interested in meeting and talking with him. I just love it when serendipity pops in to say hi. It was such a pleasure meeting him. He was a gracious host and the Jim Beam tasting was most excellent. If you find yourself in Louisville, be sure to stop by The Silver Dollar. Perhaps you’ll get lucky and find Mr. Veach hosting a tasting there. While at The Silver Dollar I was happy to find Old Rip Van Winkle on the menu. I don’t think I could’ve started my trip off any better than that.
